Lewis Hamilton 5 Place Grid Penalty – Facing a 5 place grid penalty for the Chinese Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton says ‘it’s an opportunity to rise‘
The three-time world champion arrived in China earlier this week knowing that he would be facing a 5 place grid penalty due to a gearbox change however, he’s not letting it stop him – at all!
Saying “it’s a challenge and it’s an opportunity to rise. I’m going to start in the best possible position and then I look forward to racing.“
The Shanghai track is one that he loves – he’s won here four times in the past and he puts it down to it being a “strong circuit” for him along with the mass amount of fans that he has.
His team-mate Nico Rosberg is currently 17 points ahead of him but that didn’t stop the mind-games and competitiveness between the two – “It’s going to be an easy weekend for Nico, for sure. But it doesn’t mean that I can’t give him a good run for his money from wherever I start”
Hamilton continued his interview to the media by saying that starting further back in the field reminds him of his early karting days – “I didn’t start in a top team and that’s what I love. I love racing so much and coming through the back. When I started I had a crap kart because it was all we could afford – I grew up doing this” joking “Maybe that’s why I’m in such a good mood because I’m going to have a race with some people.”
On the other hand Nico Rosberg said with Lewis starting further back it doesn’t mean that anything will change “I’m still fully focused and not taking anything for granted at all. I’m battling Lewis Hamilton and we all know how quick he is and with his track record here in the last two years. He’s going to be motivated.”
Not forgetting the Ferrari’s Rosberg continued to say – “There’s still Ferrari who haven’t shown what they can do yet, we mustn’t forget that”
So even though Lewis Hamilton might be starting from further back – it’s still going to be an exciting race this weekend!
