Formula 1: Instagram Selfie – A rare picture with NEARLY all the drivers together, for a specific reason…..
Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Daniil Kvyat, Sergio Perez, Felipe Massa, Valtteri Bottas, Max Verstappen, Niko Hulkenberg, Esteban Guitierrez, Marcus Ericsson, Felipe Nasr, Carlos Sainz Jr, Pascale Wehrlein and reserve driver Esteban Ocon all came together for a very rare driver selfie but all for a good reason….
The GDPA (Grand Prix Drivers Association) issued a letter to the heads of F1 voicing their dissatisfaction of the direction the sport was going in early this season.
Bernie Ecclestone (boss of F1) replied to the letter saying that the drivers were “windbags” which resulted in most of the drivers joining forces and using the hashtag #racingunited and in the word of Nico Rosberg #windbagsunited
It went back and fourth with Bernie Ecclestone even pointing out a ‘mistake’ in the open-letter however it’s down to how you actually read it….
Considering the sport and the fact that Bernie Ecclestone has been in Formula 1 for over 50 years, you’d think he would know how to handle a situation a lot better and how to show drivers respect.
If there’s no respect then you’ll either have people turning away from you or rising against you and in this case – the drivers have risen above, making their point loud and clear.
