Japanese Grand Prix Qualifying LIVE 

After the Malaysian Grand Prix last week, we’re now back for another weekend of racing with the Japanese Grand Prix with the qualifying session about the begin.

The Pit Lane is now open with cars making their way onto the track for Q1.

Qualifying 1 – Japanese Grand Prix Qualifying Live 

Rosberg currently goes faster than Hamilton – even by going off track slightly, setting a time of 1:31.858

The track is slightly damp and there’s clouds in sight too.

Hamilton reporting that he is getting stuck in traffic.

Team telling Ricciardo that the track “is looking a bit quicker than we anticipated“.

 Raikkonen sets the fastest lap so far with a time of – 1:31.674 he’s been looking strong all weekend.

Vettel now sets a faster lap tim compared to his team-mate with a 1:31.659 

 Cars are now back in the pits – Hamilton is out of his car.

Button and Alonso are the first two who are coming out of the pits to hopefully improve on their times.

Jenson Button is out of Q1 which has been looking likely however it’s not a great result for the Honda team at their home track.

Cars are now back into the pits and getting ready for Q2.

Qualifying 2 – Japanese Grand Prix Qualifying Live 

Both Mercedes drivers are back on track for Q2.

Rosberg sets a fast lap time of 1:30.714 with Hamilton just behind in second place – 1:31.129 

Cars are now back into the pits during Q2 and getting ready for the final run.

Alonso is out of Q2 – another disappointing moment for the Honda team at their home track.

The top 10 are all back in the pits and waiting for Q3 to begin. Rosberg currently leading with times, Hamilton had a little issue when setting his time.

Qualifying 3 – Japanese Grand Prix Qualifying Live 

The Haas team have gotten both their cars through to Q3 – the first time in the teams history – well done!

 Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari are currently the 6 cars on track.

 Hamilton sets the fastest lap time of 1:30.758 – slightly faster than his team mate.

It’s close between the top 6 drivers.

Verstappen coming back to the pits as he’s having a little issue with his car.

Both Red Bull drivers are now back into the pits.

 All drivers are now back in the pits.

Rosberg did lose a little bit of time by going wide at a turn – lets see how the final run will be.

 Cars are now back on track – lets see who’s going to be on pole position.

 Rosberg is on pole position – Hamilton in second place followed by Kimi Raikkonen.

Vettel qualifies in 4th however he has a 3-place grid penalty for the Japanese Grand Prix tomorrow.

Rosberg – “I’m confident for the race tomorrow, it’s been a good weekend and practice session so I’m looking forward to that.

Vettel has a three-place grid penalty and will be starting from 7th for the race tomorrow. *
