Singapore Grand Prix Reaction

So, the Singapore Grand Prix is now over for another year, let’s take a look and see some of the immediate reaction right after the race.

A full driver AND team roundup will be on the Formula 1 Blog later this evening.

Verstappen – “Considering the start, I think we did the best we could. As soon as I was in clear air I could manage my tyres. It was all compromised by the start unfortunately – I have no clue how I didn’t get hit. It was all fun and I tried to fight back.”

Kvyat – “I felt we didn’t try to risk anything today – we were too conservative and we should have been more aggressive but well done to the team. They did a good job and it’s really satisfying. I tried getting past and to overtake, I pushed and let Verstappen by because I might have had a 10 second penalty.”

Button – “Got a really good start and got caught by Bottas. I didn’t see Hulkenberg until he was in front of me and I tagged Bottas as-well, I broke the floor and I was running with a lot less downforce and the balance was wrong too.”

Raikkonen – “Obviously I managed to pass a lot of them and I made a mistake but I don’t know what happened. It’s not ideal but very difficult to overtake and with mistakes from other people.”

Vettel – “Anything can happen here, for sure it was a long way away and it seemed out of reach from the start but the car really came alive. I enjoyed it a lot and at one point I was hoping we could join the battle for third but we lost a bit too much time which I think we lost at the early stages and was expected. We were hoping for a safety car that didn’t come but it was an optimum result.”

Hamilton – “I was having such a problem with the brakes and it didn’t matter which strategy we were on. Some things didn’t make sense to me and there were a few missed opportunities. It’s not as tough being behind, it’s not as tough as you think – I’ve been in a lot worse.”

Ricciardo – “I knew I had to catch him (Rosberg) and I was trying to keep pushing and force him into a little error or something. I wasn’t aware of the problems, the team was just telling me that he was coming into traffic and that I could catch him. We came close and our pace on the soft was quite good – I was a bit hesitant when they said we were going onto a three-stop but we kept trying.”

Rosberg – “Hats off to Red Bull for such an awesome attempt for trying to get us – they nearly did and I just pushed as much as I could so I’m very happy with that. I knew what was going on and I knew that I had traffic in front, they did a really good job and it wasn’t the easiest of situations.”

Lots more to come soon including full driver and team reactions.
