Daniel Ricciardo – “Victory For Bianchi” – Malaysian Grand Prix

The Malaysian Grand Prix can only be described as an exciting race – from the very first lap there was something going on, Vettel’s retirement, and throughout the 56 lap race there was battles throughout.

A penalty for Rosberg in the latter stages of the race for causing a collision with Kimi Raikkonen and of course, the most talked about unreliability for Lewis Hamilton, yet again.

All of this played well into the hands of the Red Bull drivers and even they had a little battle however there was respect between the two drivers – pushing each other but within limits.

Daniel Ricciardo was the stronger driver out of the two and brought his car home to an “emotional” victory in Malaysia, even dedicating the win to his late friend, Jules Bianchi.

It’s been just over two years since my last victory and it feels like a long two years – a lot has happened.

It was a life-changing moment, the loss of Jules – a friend, that was hard to take and I would have loved to have won sooner and dedicated this win to him a bit sooner. Since that day, it definitely changes you as a person – for the better. I’ve become more appreciative of the things I have and the position I am in.

Today, I won a Formula 1 race, it’s another dream come true so this – this one is definitely for him.

An emotional Ricciardo then paid tribute to his team-mate (Verstappen) – “It was fair and clean with Max, it was fun! That was the best part and I think we both enjoyed it. I saw that we had an opportunity and I was very determined to not let that go. I’m sure he would love to be in this position but he’s also honest and very fair.

“The team are happy with what we’ve done and it’s a super-awesome day – very emotional but it’s a great feeling.”

The Formula 1 Girl 🙂
