Monaco Grand Prix Tyre Selection 2016 – Here’s the tyre selection ahead of the most-glamourous race of the year, the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Yes, it’s nearly time for the most famous race of the year – the Monaco Grand Prix and here we’re taking a look at the tyre selections for this year.
As we’ll be able to see, most teams have opted for the softest tyres possible however a couple of teams have gone their own way….
Ferrari drivers – Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen will both have 9 sets (one set less) of the ultrasoft tyres (purple-marked) compared to their closest rivals Mercedes and RedBull who have both selected 10 sets of the ultrasofts.
And if you’re thinking I’ve gone mad, I haven’t – the ultrasoft tyres are making their Formula 1 debut in Monte Carlo for the Monaco Grand Prix which should make it a rather exciting race!
On the other hand, we have Toro Rosso and Force India going their own way – they are picking 3 sets of the softs, 2 sets of the supersofts and seven sets of the ultrasofts for their drivers.
Another team who are being bold and going their own way is the McLaren team – they’re opting for 1 set of softs, 5 sets of the supersofts and 7 sets of the ultrasofts for their drivers, Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso. See the F1 gossip for Fernando Alonso at Mercedes.
