Lewis Hamilton Keeps P2 Following Stewards Investigation
As you may have read in this post, Lewis Hamilton was summoned to the stewards following the Austrian Qualifying session for allegedly not slowing down when his team-mate, Valtteri Bottas, edged off the track (with yellow flags).
Upon reviewing the footage, the stewards decided to clear Hamilton of any wrongdoing by saying: “Hamilton mentioned that he passed a green light panel in Turn 5. The video footage confirmed that there have been yellow flags and green light panels at the same time and therefore conflicting signals were shown to the driver…..”
“Taking this into account, the stewards decided to take no further action.”
As I’ve said before, I still don’t think that the stewards are consistent when it comes to their decision making. We’ve seen plenty of cases where a case has been much worse yet a driver can be let off with a simple warning and it’s things like this which affect the sport in a negative way.
Stewards need to start being more consistent in their decisions….
There’s much more on the way for race day!
