Formula 1: Mercedes Engineer Swap Influencing Nico Rosberg’s Wins?
So, Is it?
This year has started off pretty interesting, we had the terrible qualifying format, Alonso’s accident and now there’s the question hanging over the Mercedes garage about how such a change between their two drivers has happened.
Earlier in the year, Mercedes decided to swap some mechanics from their two garages – around five to six members of staff changed and switched, moving to the opposite side they worked in due to a ‘staff change around’…..
In the first three races this season, Nico Robserg has won them all, now with a 36-point gap against Lewis Hamilton in the Championship Results.
However – before we start jumping to conclusions, it’s not only this year that Nico Rosberg has been dominating the races.
He also won the final three races of last season – as soon as Lewis Hamilton won his championship, that’s when things started changing so I think the Mercedes switch around could just be a coincidence as the team want to show that they’re open and fair.
I personally think that it’s still early days – a lot can happen and it only takes a race (or two) for the rest of the drivers to catch up.
What do you all think about this? Do you think it’s a coincidence with the team switch-up? Is Hamilton just taking a step-back for the time being?
