Formula 1: Russian Grand Prix 2016 Sauber Preview

Formula 1: Russian Grand Prix 2016 Sauber Preview – Earlier this week the Sauber F1 team headed to the Sochi Circuit ahead of the Russian Grand Prix.

Right by the Black Sea coast, the drivers share their memories from last year.

Marcus Ericsson – “Last year at the Russian Grand prix we had a great team result with Felipe finishing in P6. I was more unlucky that weekend and wasn’t able to finish the race as I ran into Nico (Hulkenberg) after he spun on turn two. We were definitely competitive that weekend so I’m looking forward to racing on track this weekend again.”

Felipe Nasr – “Thinking back to last season, I had a great race weekend in Sochi. We maximised what we had and took every opportunity in front of us. In the end we came P6 which was my second best result in Formula 1. I am confident that the team is doing it’s best and everyone is working hard so I hope we can sort out the issues from last race weekends.

Sochi Track Facts – Russian Grand Prix Preview

The Sochi Circuit runs through the 2014 Winter Olympics Park.

Surrounded by walls, the circuit is considered to be a mix of permanent and street track due to the elements. Straight-line performance and braking dominate the first and last sectors.

The middle sector is a lot more technical and requires the drivers to find their rhythm through the flow of the corners.

Thank you to the Sauber F1 Team for providing these details ahead of the Russian Grand Prix – Wishing you the best of luck for the race this weekend!
