Felipe Massa at Williams – Bottas at Mercedes
As they days go on, it’s looking more and more likely that Bottas will move over to the Mercedes team – becoming the replacement of Nico Rosberg who announced his retirement just 5 days after winning the World Championship.
If things do go to plan and Bottas does in fact move over to the Mercedes team, this would leave Williams in a difficult situation.
The team have recently signed Lance Stroll, who’s making his F1 debut next year, and the team have always expressed the fact that they want an “experienced driver” to ‘balance’ the two team-mates.
It’s now being widely reported that Williams have ‘opened talked’ with Massa about him making a ‘comeback’ to the sport – just one month after his retirement.
According to Sky Sports F1 – provisional terms have now been accepted, allowing Bottas to leave Williams and join the Mercedes team.
The ‘deal’ is ready to be finalised by Mercedes and Bottas’ management (including Toto Wolff) along with the compensation package for Williams.
