Supersoft Tyres – Baku City Circuit Tyre Choices Revealed – Ahead of the Formula 1 Baku Grand Prix, find out all of the team’s tyre selections.
With 12 days to go until the Formula 1 Baku Grand Prix, Pirelli have now revealed the tyre choices of the teams and drivers ahead of the race in Azerbaijan.
Due to the track being relatively unknown to the teams and especially the drivers, it’s going to be an exciting race for everyone. With different strategies being decided and the main factor of it being an ‘unknown’ track it looks like we’ve got a good race on the way!
From what we’ve seen, the circuit has elements of a permanent and street track with some very tight corners along the way too – tyres will play a major part in the race and how each driver will be able to manage the situation, the corners, the braking and of course – the temperature.
The preferred tyre option is the Supersoft which is normally the preferred option in most of the other races too however they deteriorate easier – especially when drivers are pushing their cars and not looking after the tyres.
Defending world champion, Lewis Hamilton and his team-mate Nico Rosberg both have 8 sets of the supersets however they have a different number of mediums and soft tyres between them. Has this been chosen simply to suit each driver’s driving style or is it different strategy options from the team?
Red Bull have also gone for 8 sets of the Supersofts for both their drivers with the main competitors, Ferrari choosing 7 sets of the Supersofts for their drivers….. again is this something to suit their drivers or is the team looking at a different strategy to get ahead of their main competitors?
Let’s take a look below at all the drivers and their tyres choices for the Formula 1 Baku Grand Prix.
