Sebastian Vettel Speaks About Charles Leclerc Following Turkish GP
In the Turkish GP, we had Charles Leclerc with an outburst on the team radio radio after his last lap mistake and just like we had in Baku, he isn’t afraid to say when he thinks he has made a mistake….
Speaking about his team-mate, Sebastian Vettel shared his opinion to the media….
Sebastian Vettel: “For me, Turkey is a special place because it’s where everything started. It’s probably not where everything ends but still I think, looking back to many years ago, having Charles (Leclerc) as a team-mate, I often see myself in him as well…”
“He’s a lot younger, he’s very quick and I think the fact that – well, I haven’t had a chance to talk to him yet but I will tell him later that being on the podium or not, it’s a bit irrelevant for him because he has so many years ahead of him and so any podiums to come – which I’m sure of….”
“It’s right that he is angry, he did make a mistake and lost the podium that way but as I said, in the bigger picture, it’s probably irrelevant. I’d like to think that I’m mature enough and I don’t let this kind of stuff really heat up and get between us (as team-mates).”
“I’m happy for anything he achieves and will achieve in the future because he’s a good kid. Obviously this was a tough race (Turkey) but we were very close to losing it completely at various stages of the race and it’s extra painful when something like this happens on the last lap…”
At the end of the 2020 season, Sebastian Vettel will be leaving Ferrari to join Racing Point which will become Aston Martin Racing.
Could we see a shift in how things will play out in the coming seasons?
Either way, it’s nice to see the respect and fondness from Sebastian Vettel, he’s a driver that has faced his fair share of up’s and down’s with Ferrari and backlash from the media – as do many Ferrari drivers so it’s always nice to see posts and interviews like this.
