Weather: Sunny & Dry, 20-23 degrees air temperature, 41- 42 degrees track temperature

The Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix was a good one – we knew there would be excitement but none of us could have predicted what happened.

The Sauber F1 team finished in P12 (Ericsson) and P15 (Nasr) – here’s what the team and drivers had to say after the race at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Marcus Ericsson (P12)

I am very happy with my race today, we went for a good strategy from my point of view. I am satisfied with my driving as I didn’t make any mistakes and had good pace at the same time. I would say that it was one of my best races in Formula one so far.

“We all know that we are struggling with our car and to keep up with the other teams but today I was able to beat one of our main competitors. Without updates on the car, I think we can be satisfied for the result today but we will keep pushing for Monaco”

Felipe Nasr (P15)

It was a difficult weekend. I had a good start to the race and I was able to gain some positions on my first lap. I was surprised we didn’t change from our initial plan – a two stop strategy to a three stop strategy.”

I don’t think the two step strategy was the right choice as I couldn’t keep up the pace. The stint was too long on the medium tyres and I ended up losing the track positions which I gained at the beginning of the race.”

Now we have to look forward to Monaco

Team Principal – Monisha Kaltenborn

That is a result which we can build on. Marcus was able to make his way up into the midfield due to very good driving. It is a positive sign that the team need. Felipe did his best but was on a different strategy”

Well done and Thank you to the Sauber F1 Team for providing the interviews and images for this post!
