Sauber Austrian Grand Prix Reaction

It was a great race today at the Austrian Grand Prix however it was disappointing for the Sauber F1 team, finishing in Spielberg with Felipe Nasr in P13 and Marcus Ericsson in P15.

The team will now travel from Austria, straight to the UK, Silverstone which is taking place next weekend and where the Sauber cars will be equipped with a modified power unit for the race weekend.

See all the reaction from the drivers and team below.

Started on Supersoft tyres and after 12 laps switched to soft tyres. After 50 laps there was a pit-stop, switching to the supersoft tyres.

It was a disappointing race, I think we just didn’t have the pace during the whole weekend. I was hoping that with the lower temperatures it would have helped us today but that wasn’t the case.

I was struggling a lot with my front tyres but now we have to focus on the upcoming race weekend. We have a new chance in Silverstone so hopefully we can bounce back there.

Finish Position – 13th

Personally, I’m satisfied with my race and considering that I start from the back of the field. In the first part especially, I was running quite a lot of laps in the top ten.”

I had decent pace on the soft tyres and when the safety car came out it was too early to box for the supersoft tyres so we decided to stay out.

Overall this result is the maximum we could have achieved today and hopefully we can build on this. I’m looking forward to the upcoming race weekends.

Sauber Team Principal

We got the maximum out of our car on the engine performance related track.

Marcus and Felipe both put in a good performance and at the next race weekend in Silverstone, the Sauber cars will have an engine update so we will continue to do our best in order to make further steps.

Lots more to come soon!
