Mick Schumacher Testing Debut For Ferrari in Bahrain – Alonso on Track Too
It’s not only Charles Leclerc who people are talking about – it’s Mick Schumacher too, making his testing debut for Ferrari in Bahrain today.
Starting this morning, Mick got in the car at around 9 o clock this morning – going out for his installation lap and looking comfortable as he went through details with engineers. Just like Leclerc, despite them being young drivers – neither of them seem to feel the pressure of being a Ferrari driver – handling things in a comfortable and mature manner.
Mick Schumacher has been spoken about a lot – especially in the last year or so as he’s following in his father’s footsteps. Currently, he’s the reigning European F3 champion and this weekend he also made his Formula 2 debut in Bahrain and now – his F1 testing debut for Ferrari.
Speaking a few weeks ago, Mick Schumacher said “my dad is my idol” – looking up to him and saying “it’s special” to be compared to him.
Mick Schumacher joined the Ferrari driver academy earlier this year and is working his way through the ranks up to the ultimate role in Formula 1. A positive for the driver is that he’s the only driver making his debut on Tuesday – all the other teams are running with their regular race driver.
Tomorrow, Sebastian Vettel will be taking over in the SF90.
Fernando Alonso has also made his ‘comeback’ so to speak – joining Pirelli for their development test too. A roundup should be online this evening but in the meantime, take a look at the drivers which are running today along with a few photos from testing this morning.
