Mercedes have picked softer tyres for the Russian Grand Prix 2016 compared to their closest competitors….
The silver arrows have decided to go for the softer tyres for the Russian Grand Prix – meaning they will be taking eight sets of the super-soft tyres (red-marked) to the Sochi circuit compared to their closest competitors, Ferrari.
Ferrari on the other hand are taking six sets of the super-soft tyres for both their drivers however this means they’ll have an extra two sets of softs available to them…..
Most of the teams (excluding Manor who are taking two) are taking 1 set of the mandatory medium tyre to the Sochi track….
The boldest strategy out of all the teams looks like it’s coming from Red Bull Racing and Haas who have picked 10 – yes 10 sets of super-softs for the Russian Grand Prix, two sets of the softs and one set of mediums for their drivers…
It looks like it’s going to be a good race with the variety of tyres (and numbers) being used during the race – strategy wise, I’m a little unsure how it’ll work out for the teams as Vettel and Raikkonen will have an extra two sets of softs available to them compared to the Mercedes team….
