Hamilton On Pole For Austrian Grand Prix
We knew it would be a wonderful qualifying session and we hoped for a few surprises along the way too but I don’t think anyone could have expected this turn-out and shift in the driver line-up ahead of tomorrow’s Austrian Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton will be starting the race from pole however due to steward investigations and penalties, we’re seeing a shift with drivers.
Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel are both being demoted down the grid.
Nico Rosberg will be starting the race from P6 after applying for a gearbox change due to his crash in FP3 – this is where we saw his team, along with a few members from Hamilton’s team working together to make sure his car would be back out on-track for the qualifying session.
It’s nice to see teams working together this way, it’s not seen often so it does make a nice change!
Sebastian Vettel is also facing a five-place grid penalty after an unscheduled gearbox change, meaning he will be starting the race from P9.
With all the changes taking place, Nico Hulkenberg has moved up to P2, starting from the front row.
It’s been a long time coming for Jenson Button, he’s starting his race from P3 – a big achievement for McLaren-Honda and hopefully we’ll be seeing more results like this from the team in races ahead!
So here’s how the driver lineup looks ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix tomorrow.
