“There will be consequences” says Bruno Famin, the team principal at Alpine, following the incident between the two drivers during the first lap of the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix.
As we all saw, the two drivers came together just before entering the tunnel during the first lap of the race which saw Ocon’s car being lifted into the air resulting in too much damage for him to continue, following the red flag.
Pierre Gasly in the meantime went on to finish in P10 – scoring his first point of the season.
He wasn’t happy with the incident and we also heard him on the radio right after.

The stewards have since given Esteban Ocon a five-place grid penalty for the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix which will take place in just two weeks time however harsh words were thrown around following the impact.
Bruno Famin, the team principal of Alpine spoke to the media following the contact between the team-mates and said that “there will be consequences” and some changes ahead.
Following the comments, there are now a lot of question marks surrounding Esteban Ocon as his Alpine contract runs out at the end of this year.
The contact between the two drivers isn’t to be taken lightly. We don’t know if the team instructed their drivers to not race each other and this could have been a decent result for the team today.
Apologising for the incident, Esteban Ocon released the following statement with a post on Twitter, now known as “X”.

He said the following “Today’s incident was my fault, the gap was too small in the end and I apologise to the team on this one. Hoping for a deserved points-finish for the team today.“
