Confirmed – Lance Stroll and Valtteri Bottas At Williams (2017 Drivers)
It’s been something of a discussion for months – with rumours going around here, there and everywhere about who the Williams 2017 driver line-up will be and now, it’s been confirmed – Lance Stroll and Valtteri Bottas at Williams for the 2017 Formula 1 season.
The eighteen year old (Stroll) has been spoken about in the media with many people claiming that he has simply ‘paid his way’ into Formula 1 due to the wealth of his father however he has won 14 races in Formula 3 and took the opportunity to address the media after the Williams driver announcement, saying the following – “Everyone has their own opinion and it’s something I cannot change.“
“I come from money, I can’t and won’t deny that but I do believe that I’ve earned my shot in Formula 1 because I’ve won every championship that I’ve competed in.“
“The FIA have now put in a super license for just that reason – so people can’t ‘buy their way’ into F1. You now have to prove yourself and to show you are worthy by winning in the junior categories.“
Lance Stroll will now become the second-youngest driver in Formula 1 history when he makes his debut in the new season – March 2017.
Claire Williams also spoke to the media about the new driver line-up saying that – “We had made this decision a long time ago and it’s one that we are really, really excited about. This is a new chapter in Williams’ history.“
Valtteri Bottas also said that – “I believe I can win next year at Williams. I believe in the team. I believe that we deserve more than we have achieved and that’s why I’m here.“
So, overall it looks like the 2017 Formula 1 season is going to be a good one! There’s lots to look forward to and the season hasn’t even ended yet…..
