Nico Hulkenberg Leaves Force India

After 5 years with the team, Nico Hulkenberg has announced that he will be leaving the Sahara Force India team at the end of the season and his final race with his current team will be the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix next month.

The rumours surrounding Hulkenberg have been going around non-stop and it looks like he will be signing a multi-year deal with the Renault team meaning that either Kevin Magnussen or Esteban Ocon will be his team-mate.

Jolyon Palmer (Renault Driver) has said he is “not worried about Esteban Ocon” replacing him at the Renault team.

Nico Hulkenberg is a well-respected driver in the paddock and has a lot of potential however he hasn’t had the opportunity to truly show the driver he is – in the past, he has been linked with moves to Ferrari and McLaren.

Following the announce, Sahara Force India Team Principal, Vijay Mallya said the following –

Everybody at Sahara Force India wishes Nico well as he embarks upon a different path in Formula One. Having spent five years with us, the team, Nico has become a great friend and contributed a huge amount to the team’s success.

He’s an outstanding driver who has scored more points for his team than anybody else. While it’s true that we will miss him, we respect his decision to explore fresh opportunities and it would be wrong for us to stand in his way.

More to come soon!

The Formula 1 Girl 🙂
