Nico Hulkenberg Joins Renault For 2017

A few days ago it was announced that Nico Hulkenberg was to leave the Force India team at the end of the 2016 (see more in this post) with his last race with the team being in Abu Dhabi for the final Grand Prix of this season.

There was no confirmation of where the driver would be going however there had been a lot of rumours in the paddock that he would be making a move to the Renault team for the 2017 season, leaving Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer in the air about where they’re going to be next year.

It has now been confirmed that Nico Hulkenberg will be joining the Renault team for the 2017 season, signing a multi-year deal with the team and if the rumours are to be believed – his teammate will either be Kevin Magnussen or Esteban Ocon.

Following the announcement of the move, Hulkenberg said the following – “Renault has always been a big player in the motorsport world and that bring up incredible memories for me. In his stint with Renault, Michael Schumacher not only helped to make Germany an F1 nation but he also sparked my enthusiasm and fire for racing.

Being a part of the Renault family, I want to develop the car and write new success stories. It has always been my dream to work for a manufacturer team and with the new regulations and changes – this will give our team a good opportunity.”

Renault will play a challenger role and this fits my approach to racing – I can’t wait to become a part of the family.

Nico Hulkenberg is considered to be a driver with a lot of potential  – making his Formula 1 debut back in 2010 with the Williams team.

The Formula 1 Girl 🙂
