Stroll on pole for 2020 Turkish Grand Prix
I don’t think anyone could have predicted the outcome of Qualifying for the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix with Lance Stroll taking pole.
Producing the best lap of his career, in the wet conditions, it really was a shock result for Qualifying but also a great twist – giving the fans of the sport some excitement for the race start.
We have qualifying being stopped due to the conditions and throughout the weekend, especially during Q1 and Q2, it looked set to be going to the Red Bull team, primarily Max Verstappen although Alex Albon seemed to find the pace, pushing his car (and team-mate) in the challenging track conditions.
However, we saw both Racing Point cars making their way through (once the intermediate tyres were added) and setting great lap times with Lance Stroll producing the best lap of his career, even though I’d still say he hasn’t quite proved himself as a consistently strong driver.
Look at Max Verstappen and you’ll see that he has proved himself and as I’ve said before, give him a championship-winning car and he’ll be a tough driver to beat….
