Singapore and Malaysia To Stop Hosting Formula 1?

There’s been rumours here, there and everywhere about the Singapore and Malaysian Grand Prix’s regarding whether or not they’ll be returning to the Formula 1 calendar.

As time goes on, it seems all the more unlikely that Singapore will be a part of Formula 1 after 2017 and Malaysia after 2018 when their contracts expire.

Earlier this year at the Singapore Grand Prix, Bernie Ecclestone spoke to the media expressing his happiness that Singapore had “done the deal” extending their contract for another year and was confident that the partnership would continue however he recently spoke to the media saying that Singapore “no longer wanted to host a Grand Prix” after their contract expires next year – 2017.

Further media reports now suggest that Malaysia is joining in with Singapore and will not be hosting a Formula 1 Grand Prix once their contract expires in 2018. This is due to falling demand at races with the Tourism and Culture Minister saying “it’s no longer that attractive“especially over the long-term.
