Rosberg Unhappy With Penalty
It was the final race before the Formula 1 summer-break and during the German Grand Prix we saw some great overtaking moves along with one highly-criticised penalty for Rosberg at his home grand prix.
The talking point remains for the battle between Rosberg and Verstappen which ended up with the stewards investigating the move and in turn Rosberg receiving a 5 second drive through penalty.
Penalty – What Happened?
Battling for their places, Rosberg wanted to get past Verstappen, diving down the inside line and pushing the Dutch driver within limits.
The stewards investigated the incident and gave Rosberg a 5-second drive through penalty however to make the situation worse – his team (Mercedes) waited longer than the 5 seconds to change his tyres in the pit lane.
After the race this is what Rosberg had to say….
“It was a really tough day for me, it was one of those days where it all comes together and then goes completely wrong.”
“Without the penalty, I was in front of the Red Bulls and with the penalty I then couldn’t challenge them. The place I finished was down to the penalty.“
“It’s quite surprising, I didn’t expect it at all and I thought the battle with Max was good – I didn’t think anything else about it.“
Continuing to talk about the race, he said that it all went wrong at the start of the race – “It just went completely wrong, I got a lot of wheel-spin which I didn’t expect especially after the warm up lap and that caught me by surprise. None of it was good.“
When asked about the championship, the situation and the 19-point lead his team-mate has over him, this is what Rosberg had to say – “19 points is not tough, what’s tough is losing the race in the way that I did today. That’s definitely going to take some time to get used to and to digest over the next few days.“
We have more to come soon on The Formula 1 Girl, just because it’s the summer break doesn’t mean there won’t be any updates so make sure you keep checking back for the latest!! 🙂
