Mercedes Say NO To Team Orders – For Now…

This morning the Mercedes management met with Hamilton and Rosberg ahead of the British Grand Prix this weekend.

Confirming that they will NOT be giving out team orders to either driver after the two came together in Austria in the final lap. (See more HERE)

Both Hamilton and Rosberg have been warned by the team (again) and have stated that they won’t accept a repeat of what happened in the Austrian Grand Prix however if they don’t listen – team orders will be given and that’s a last resort for the team…

Their destiny is in their hands” – should we be looking at this statement further? Does it mean if one (or both) drivers don’t listen, their seat could be compromised?

For now, both drivers are ‘free’ to race and battle each other for the World Championship – within limits…. Ferrari should keep an eye on this and see how they can benefit from this…

Mercedes Says No To Team Limits – After The Austrian Grand Prix

We also know that after the Austrian Grand Prix, the stewards investigated the accident / collision between the two drivers (Hamilton & Rosberg) and found that Rosberg was the driver at fault.

Handing him a five-second time penalty and two penalty points on his race license….

Is this enough? In my opinion, I don’t think it is – looking at the details and the replays, you can clearly see that Rosberg delayed turning into the corner pushing Hamilton right to the edge and then didn’t allow him to come back onto the track either… (see more in this post here)

I think he should have been handed at least a five-place grid penalty or to start from the pit-lane for the next race.

All the tension and pressure between the team-mates has caused them to have contact for a third time in the last five races….

Lets see what’s going to happen at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, this weekend….
