Hamilton Grid Penalty Belgian Grand Prix
Ah, the summer break is over and Formula 1 is back to our screens!
The news many of you want to know about Hamilton and his penalty at this weeks Belgian Grand Prix!
The 4x world championship winner and current championship leader is set to take a grid penalty and will be starting the race from at least 10places back from his qualifying position with many, including Mercedes, excepting him to start from the back of the grid or ‘very close‘ to the back of the grid.
Why is Hamilton getting a penalty?
Many of you will be questioning why the driver will be receiving such a penalty however it’s something which we have been expecting.
Due to the bad start this season and all those unreliabilities Hamilton suffered with, he went through a lot of changes and used a lot of power unit elements.
Hamilton has now gone past the penalty-free limit for two of his six power-unit elements and what this means is that at least a 10-place grid penalty will be applied for any of those elements being used first by a driver.
If another element is used after this penalty, then the driver will receive a five-place grid penalty for any other elements being introduced and used.
So the race for the title championship is still underway!
More to come soon!
