Hamilton and Rosberg Crash In Spanish Grand Prix – What Happens Now?
This is the question being asked by fans and media all around the world – what happens now for the two Mercedes drivers?
It’s now been over 24 hours since the Hamilton and Rosberg crash in the Spanish Grand Prix and the world is waiting to see how this will play out.
The pressure and tension has been building up between the two drivers over time and it’s something which you can see through both drivers.
Lewis is slowly losing his calm / chilled demeanour – at the beginning of the season he was very relaxed and taking everything in his stride but with all the reliability issues and team member changes things are taking their toll.
Rosberg on the other hand might look stronger at the moment but in reality – he hasn’t had much of a challenge from his team-mate or any other teams making the wins for him relatively easy.
Hamilton and Rosberg Crash in Spanish Grand Prix
We all knew that something like this would happen, it was inevitable – a dream doesn’t last forever and Mercedes as a team should have been prepared better. With all their wins, trophies and domination of the sport it seems like that ‘dream’ is slowly turning into a nightmare – especially when both drivers are as determined as each other.
The two drivers came together at the Belgian Grand Prix in 2014 but this was the first time that both drivers had to drop out of the race.
Who Was To Blame?
Like I mentioned in this post here – I think both drivers were at fault however more of the responsibility lies with Nico.
After the meeting with the stewards both drivers were allowed to speak to the media – Nico specifically said that he was ‘aware of the situation‘ and knew that Hamilton was closing down on him so he ‘shut the door‘ which pushed Hamilton off-track.
For me, Hamilton was on the right racing line, he saw a gap and took the opportunity to overtake with both his front wing being past the back tyre of Rosberg meaning that he was entitled to his space and that’s where I think Rosberg was far too aggressive.
It’s a situation which could have been avoided – they’re professionals and they’re paid to do a job – racing but this was one push too far. All the pressure and tension just got to their heads and I think if they didn’t make contact then, they would have made contact elsewhere as they are both fighting for their points.
What Happens Now?
We’re all waiting to see what’s going to happen between the two drivers – I think Mercedes definitely have their work cut out for them.
They’re both determined to win and this hasn’t made their situation any better!
