The formation lap is under way – drivers are now making their way round the track and ready for the start of the German Grand Prix, the final race before the summer break…..
The only driver to win from behind the front row in Germany is Fernando Alonso – could this happen today with one of the Red Bull’s maybe taking the lead? They look stronger this weekend and have closed the gap to the two Mercedes drivers.

Lights Out!
Lap 1
Hamilton is in the lead, Verstappen in second place with Ricciardo in third and Rosberg in fourth – a poor start.
Vettel overtakes his team-mate, Raikkonen with Bottas behind.
Lap 2
Rosberg tries making his way past Ricciardo however Ricciardo keeps track position and keeps his place.
Team to Rosberg – “Remember the plan for the first four laps.”
Lewis Hamilton now sets the fastest lap time of the race.
Lap 6
Alonso overtakes Massa and is now up into 10th place.
Lap 7
Nico Rosberg now sets the fastest lap of the race. Sainz is now closing the gap to Massa who seems to be suffering with his car….
He was hit by Jolyon Palmer and a little part of his wing came off…..
Lap 8
Kvyat and Palmer pit.
Sainz nearly goes into the back of Massa – battling for 11th place.
Lap 9
Perez comes into the pits.
Carlos Sainz now overtakes Massa – Massa does seem to have a problem with his car, he’s now trying to regain places however Magnussen now makes his way past too and Massa drops to 13th place.
Lap 10
Lewis Hamilton now sets the fastest lap of the race.
Sainz pits however there’s a problem with his stop meaning he’s now back behind Massa.
Lap 11
Hamilton still leads the race with Verstappen in second, Ricciardo in third and Rosberg on fourth place.
Rosberg comes into the pits first for super soft tyres.
Lap 13
Lewis Hamilton now sets the fastest lap of the race. Ricciardo now comes into the pits for a tyre change….
Ricciardo is still ahead of Nico Rosberg.
Rosberg now makes his way past Alonso after his pit stop.
Raikkonen – “I’m struggling with the rear also“
Lap 14
Vettel now pits.
Button now pits.
Team to Hamilton – “OK Lewis, it’s Hammer time“
Lewis comes into the pits.
Lap 15
Lewis Hamilton back out onto the race track – still leading the race.
Nico Rosberg now sets the fastest lap time.
Raikkonen pits.
Alonso pits.
Team to Rosberg – “Plan B” – a switch in strategy.
Lap 17
Nico Rosberg now sets the fastest lap time.
Button now closes the gap to Gutierrez…..
Lap 18
Button now up into 10th place.
Button now moves up into 9th place.

Magnussen now makes how way past Massa
Lap 20
Team to Alonso – “Nice job Fernando“
Alonso – “Don’t worry, I will do my job“
Lap 22
Carlos Sainz and Grosjean makes their way past Massa.
Verstappen – “Not the race tyre, not the race tyre“
Lap 23
Alonso has closed the gap to Gutierrez and is battling for 10th place.
He now makes his way past and is up into 10th place!
Perez now makes his way past and is up into 11th place.
Lap 24
hamilton still leads the race with Verstappen in second, Ricciardo in third and Rosberg in fourth.
The two Ferrari drivers behind, 5th for Vettel and 6th for Raikkonen.
Lap 25
Team to Ricciardo – “keep looking at that left right front“
Magnussen overtakes Gutierrez and Grosjean lines up behind the driver ready to overtake his team-mate.
Lap 27
New front wing for Jolyon Palmer who now comes into the pits.
The gap has widened between Ricciardo and Verstappen but this could be to save their tyres for a later stage.
Lap 28
Massa now comes into the pits.
Rosberg comes into the pits.
Vettel – “Come on, this is ridiculous – there’s blue flags!“
Lap 29
Verstappen now pits – there’s a battle going on between him and Rosberg.
Team to Rosberg – “push hard now, push hard now“
Rosberg pushes Verstappen off-track and now Rosberg has overtaken Verstappen.
Verstappen won’t be giving this up easily….
Lap 30
Ricciardo is now up into 2nd place. Lewis Hamilton still leads the race.
Rosberg and Verstappen are now under investigation – Rosberg for pushing Verstappen off the track….
I think Rosberg attacked fairly….
Lap 32
Vettel now comes into the pits.
Lewis Hamilton still leads the race, Ricciardo in second, Raikkonen in third, Rosberg in fourth, Verstappen now in fifth.
Vettel drops into 7th, behind Bottas after his pit.
Lap 33
Raikkonen comes into the pits.
Hulkenberg comes into the pits.
Vettel now up into fifth place.
5 second time penalty for Rosberg for forcing another driver off-track….
I don’t think that’s entirely fair….. it was a battle between the two and within the limit…

Hamilton still leads the race – he’s now coming into the pits.
Lap 35
Team to Rosberg – “Keep pushing as we have a 5 second penalty.“
Rosberg – “Can you tell them that I was full-locked on the steering wheel….“

Daniel Ricciardo now sets the fastest lap time.
Team to Hamilton – “Plan B, Plan B“

Grosjean – “There’s some smoke coming from the rear of the car.“

Ricciardo now makes how way past Verstappen – he’s up into third place.
Rosberg in second and Hamilton in first place – still leading the race.

Team to Rosberg – “Ricciardo is closing the gap – we need good time, into the 1:19’s“

Daniel Ricciardo right behind Rosberg now – Rosberg comes into the pits and lets Ricciardo go past.
Rosberg takes his times penalty of five seconds.

Team to Vettel -“It’s the only way to undercut, Box now.“

Ricciardo now comes into the pits.
Vettel now comes into the pits.
Hamilton leads the race, Raikkonen in second place, Ricciardo in third, Verstappen in fourth and Rosberg in Fourth.

Ricciardo closes the gap to Raikkonen.

Vettel back out behind Rosberg in fifth place.
Team to Ricciardo – “OK mate, lets have a little push and widen the gap.“

Hamilton still leads the race.

Ricciardo is in second place, Verstappen in third.
Hamilton now lapping…..

Gutierrez up into 13th place making his way past Magnussen.

Hamilton still leads the race – Ricciardo is behind in second… the back markers are currently being lapped which is delaying any overtaking or closing of the gap as they navigate their way through the track.

Sainz now makes how way past Magnussen and is up into 14th place.

Team to Alonso – “Ok Fernando, there’s forecast of a little bit of rain in about 5 minutes, rain in abut 5 minutes“
This could add some spice to the last few laps of the race. Skies are looking darker now.

Team to Ricciardo – “Maybe some very light drops into turn 1, some light drops into turn 1” – talking about rain.
Nico Rosberg in fourth place.

Felipe Nasr retires from the race.

Hamilton – “I can see some rain on my visor“

There’s a battle for 10th place – Perez is closing the gap to Alonso who seems to be struggling with his rear tyres.
Lap 65
3 laps now remaining.
More rain now seems to be visible on the track.
Perez just makes his way past Alonso however Perez did push Alonso off the track….
Lap 66
2 laps now remaining of the Formula 1 German Grand Prix.
Button is right behind Bottas and just makes his way past and is now up into 8th place.
More rain on the track…..

Final Lap – Lewis Hamilton still leads the race, he’s making his way round the track…
Lewis Hamilton WINS the Formula 1 German Grand Prix.
19 points in the lead of the drivers championship!
Daniel Ricciardo in second place and Verstappen in third.
Rosberg in fourth and Vettel in fifth.
