Formula 1 Pre-Season Testing: Day One
All of us who are Formula 1 fans will be extremely happy to see that pre-season testing is back on our screens and whilst we can’t count on the results – it’s always fun to watch!
Today, we had an exciting day with Haas and Alfa Romeo Racing both unveiling their cars for the 2020 Formula 1 season.
Antonio Giovinazzi commented on the Alfa saying “Beautiful” with his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen saying “it looks better than last year” – one thing’s for sure, we hope it’s faster than last year too!
You may be looking at the Renault and wondering if this is their livery – it’s not! The team announced that they would be going back to their traditional yellow car for the 2020 season.
Whilst I’m typing – I actually quite like the car being black with touches of yellow, it looks sleek and “mean”.
Moving onto Ferrari – the team had only had Charles Leclerc out for pre-season testing, with times placing them at P11 at the end of the day.
For all of you who are Ferrari fans, don’t pay attention to the timings on pre-season testing!
As we know, a lot of teams tend to sandbag – not showing their full potential until the real racing starts. I think we’ll be seeing much more from Ferrari!
If you’d like to take a look at the front wing of Charles Leclerc’s car – take a look at the photo below.
By the end of the day, we had Lewis Hamilton topping the timesheets with his team-mate Valtteri Bottas in P2.
As we all know and the main thing that we have learned over the years is that we shouldn’t focus on pre-season testing times too much.
Things change before the start of the season, and especially in the first few races, with teams developing and showing their true potential.
Here are the times at the end of the Day 1!
