Formula 1 – Perez Second in Qualifying – Sahara Force India

Formula 1 – Perez Second in Qualifying at the European Grand Prix – See the reaction from the Force India Driver after the qualifying session at the Baku City Circuit, earlier today.

Sergio Perez’s start to the season has been…. pretty slow however over the past couple of races, he’s exceeded expectations and after his result in Monaco, it seems like there’s no stopping the motivation!

Putting his car in second place today at the European Grand Prix Qualifying session however due to a grid-penalty he received, after changing the gearbox, he will drop from P2 (where he qualified) and start the race in P7.

It’s the overall effort that counts and this is what he had to say about the car and his team in the drivers’ press conference after Qualifying at the Baku City Circuit today.

“We expected that we would be strong here, but not this good! We have definitely exceeded expectations.”

“I have mixed feelings, obviously I’m still angry from the mistake earlier but I am also very happy. It’s been a difficult session and obviously after a crash you do lose some confidence so to get back in the rhythm is great.”

“The lap we put together in Q3 was very strong and I’m very pleased with that. The whole team and especially to my boys who put the car together before qualifying.”

“They deserve more than seventh on the grid but hopefully we can make good progress and aim for a good position tomorrow.”

“It’s a track which is very easy to make a mistake or to clip that wall so we have to just look forward and try to do a strong race.”

Well done to Perez and the Force India team for such a result today – it is a shame about the grid-penalty but as it was said, hopefully they can all come together for a good race tomorrow!
