Formula 1: Mercedes will let Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg race in 2016

Formula 1: Mercedes will let team-mates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg race in the 2016 F1 season.

There’s been many famous battles between the team-mates, even dating back to when Ross Braun had to put the drivers in their place before Toto Wolff took over.

However the Mercedes’ team boss has said that the team have now ‘relaxed’ their position when it comes to team-orders for both their drivers for the 2016 F1 season.

Toto Wolff SayingThere is great respect among the individuals. I don’t feel like it will be different than it has been in the last years. There is much less guidance in terms of strategy, tyre optimisation and how to drive the car so its much more down to them to drive the car” and continued “By those regulations, our role has been to ‘step-back’ a little bit but it pretty much fits into to our strategy and we will be leaving it up to these two to fight it on track”

For all fans of the sport this is music to our ears but just how ‘relaxed’ will the team be – if there’s a chance of having incidents occur then I think the team will step in and take control over situations as they’re also thinking about the constructors championship!

Plus – with an expiring contract and the possibility of another driver taking his seat at the end of the season – will Rosberg ‘do what he wants’ or will he take a step back and follow team rules to play ball and keep his seat safe?

It’s going to be a good season and we’re all getting geared up for the first race of the 2016 season this weekend in Australia! 🙂

What do you all think?
