Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix Practices – Sauber F1 Team, see what the Sauber team had to say after the Practice Sessions in Montreal.
Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix Practice
Weather: Sunny & Dry, 13-20°C air, 25-46°C track
During the practice sessions ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, the Sauber F1 team and drivers were able to complete a total of 120 laps.
Despite the technical issues, both drivers Felipe Nasr and Marcus Ericsson managed to get through both practice sessions.
Marcus Ericsson – Car 9
1st Practice: Position 19th Lap Time – 1:18.129 min (8 laps)
2nd Practice: Position 19th Lap Time – 1:16.902 min (51 laps)
“It was not the perfect day. We had some technical issues in FP1 and that meant that I was not able to run as many laps.”
“FP2 was much better and I completed 51 laps however I’m not fully satisfied with the way the car behaves at the moment but we will look into the data and understand in which areas we can improve.”
“Tomorrow, I will be getting a new power unit so that should help us to make up some lap time.”
Felipe Nasr – Car Number 12
1st Practice: Position 17th Lap Time – 1:17.855 min (21 laps)
2nd Practice: Position 17th Lap Time – 1:16.582 min (40 laps)
“In the morning we missed a lot of track time due to the issues which we had. In the afternoon we were able to recover and put some good milage in.”
“This will help us and has helped us to gain a better understanding of the car and to get a good idea about the supersoft tyres and ultrasoft tyres on the short runs as well as the long-runs.”
“From my perspective, the ultrasoft tyre does not last that long which is a key fact for the race. We need to have good tyres and good tyre management.“
There’s so much to come over this weekend and if things are staying this way – qualifying will be very different compared to the actual race day.
Weather forecasts are showing a variety of sunshine and rain for the race day – exciting some might say!? 🙂
