Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix – Force India Driver and Team Reaction – See the latest from Montreal after Sunday’s Grand Prix, reaction from both Force India Drivers and Team.

Let’s take a look at the Force India F1 Team after the brilliant Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix.

Starting with two different strategies for their drivers, it turned out to be a good race, overall, for the team!

Perez decided to start his race on the soft compound tyre but unfortunately the tyres didn’t last as long as they should have so the team changed strategy and turned it into a two-stop race for their driver.

With a newer set of tyres, Perez managed to get some overtaking done towards the end of the race getting the final point for the team – a success and a good outcome!

Nico Hulkenberg – Force India

Position – 8th

I’m happy to score points but at the same time, I was hoping for a little bit more from the race because I really believed we could challenge the top six.”

For some reason, the car didn’t feel as good today as it did during practice and qualifying but maybe its because the conditions were so cold and windy which meant that we lost that ‘sweet spot’ and the car wasn’t as easy to drive.”

This is something which we need to look at in more detail and understand it a lot better.”

I didn’t get off the line very well but I had a great first lap and recovered some positions and then the rest of my race was simply tyre management.”

Position – 10th

I think today it was a difficult race and looking back I don’t think that we chose the optimum strategy.”

We tried to go down a different route compared to everyone else but with the cooled track conditions, it just didn’t help.”

I got stuck behind the two McLaren cars and that hurt my race a lot. I lost a few seconds and at the final stop when I briefly stalled the car, it dropped me behind Kvyat but I did managed to get the position back with an overtake going into turn one.”

In any case, we brought both cars home and inside the points which is a very good result of the team.”

To come away from Montreal with another double points finish is a very good effort which consolidates our fifth place in the championship.”

We started the race hoping we could pull off a one-stop strategy with both cars but with lots of tyre graining we decided as a team to switch to a two-stop race.”

Most of the cars around us were also doing the same so it was the sensible thing to do. Nico’s race was non-eventful and he definitely did well in the opening laps of the race to recover the ground he lost at the start.”

Sergio’s race was definitely compromised with slow warm-ups on the soft tyres which caused him to drop behind the McLarens and this disrupted his race even more by costing him quite a bit of time.

With all the chilly conditions in Montreal, we’re looking forward to the weather in Baku, next week.
