F1 – Thoughts on the European Grand Prix and Baku City Circuit
Hello everyone! So as you can tell, The Formula 1 Girl has received a little makeover and in the next few weeks we will be adding lots more features but for now, we’re discussing the European Grand Prix and Baku City Circuit.
Personally, I expected to see lot more from this race – there was a lot of hype surrounding the race and we all expected to see at least one safety car with everything going on during the weekend in qualifying, the tyres and of course – GP2 with their hectic start.
The race was particularly dominated by drivers arguing back and forth with their team about what settings and modes to be on which couldn’t be answered by the team due to the ‘radio ban’.
Let’s just say, it’s getting a little bit silly – drivers are here to race, not to look at their steering wheel and ‘figure out’ what they need to do during a race. It’s not fun for them and it’s definitely not fun for us, the fans and the viewers.
Overall it was a good weekend but not great – I expected a lot more and I think if the radio ban is lifted, we’ll definitely see a lot more racing and for those complaining that there won’t be any unpredictability – it’s Formula 1, anything can happen!
What did you all think about the European Grand Prix and Baku City Circuit – did you expect it to be better?

Considering all the hype about the possibility of an exciting race, It turned out to be an anti-climax.
I’ve said from the beginning that radio communication to advise drivers on performance should not be allowed, however technical issues with the complexity of f1 cars, should be allowed.

Exactly – I expected a lot more from this race and at least one safety car! When you think there’s so many switches and over 1000 combination modes, what do you want a driver to do!? The focus has gone from racing to figuring out what to do and I think it’s affecting the sport slightly…. 🙂
