British Grand Prix Preview – Sahara Force India Formula One Team

With back-to-back races, all the teams are travelling from Austria to the UK for the British Grand Prix at the Silverstone Circuit.

Here’s a little preview ahead of the race weekend featuring both drivers from the Sahara Force India Formula One Team and team principal, Vijay Mallya.

Vijay Mallya – Team Principal

Leaving Austria empty-handed was very disappointing as we showed good form throughout the weekend but with various factors preventing us from realising (and showing) our true potential.

We’ve understood what went wrong and I’m confident that we can bounce back this weekend at Silverstone.

We shouldn’t let one unlucky race overshadow the great results that we have been achieving recently. We’re sitting in fifth in the championship and the battle for fourth still remains wide open with twelve races in the season still to go.”

There’s no denying that Silverstone is one of the most special races for the whole season. Being so close to our factory, just across the road – it means that our staff can be close to the action and we enjoy the incredible support that we receive from our fans.

I’m still feeling a little disappointed with the result in Austria. When you start on the front row, you obviously have big hopes for the race too but things didn’t work out for us.”

Fortunately we have Silverstone this week so I can get back in the car and focus on getting a good result!

The team’s home race is always a busy weekend because our factory is right next to the track – it’s one of those special races because the grandstands are full, there’s buzzing atmosphere and the energy of the fans really does give you a boost.

We usually visit the campsites which is a great way to meet the fans, have a chat and you always see how much they love the sport too which is nice.

I love driving at Silverstone, the circuit is a real challenge, the fast sections are really enjoyable and the corners like Maggots and Becketts are some of the best of the season and that’s where you feel the true performance of an F1 car.”

The last race was very exciting but sadly it was one lap too long for me. I may have lost some points but there was a lot of positives from the race and I feel very confident for Silverstone and the rest of the season.

Silverstone is one of the best tracks of the year, I think all the drivers say it’s one of their favourites and there is so much history with all the great drivers who have raced and won there.

For me, it’s very important that we keep going back to these historic circuits because they helped make Formula One what it is today.
