Austria – New Tyre Pressure Checks IntroducedÂ
So, the practice sessions have now taken place in Austria and in FP3 we saw Nico Rosberg crash-out towards the end of the session due to what is being reported as a ‘Suspension-Failure’.
We’re still waiting to find out if Rosberg will be able to participate in the upcoming qualifying session but we know that the Mercedes team work hard and the team will be working non-stop to get his car back on-track and ready for qualifying.
As for his team-mate, this weekend could be playing into his hands quite nicely as it’s not a track that Hamilton normally enjoys…
With Ferrari on top of the time sheets – Vettel followed by Raikkonen, it looks like we have a great qualifying session on the way today.
Austria – New Tyre Pressure Checks Introduced.
The FIA have introduced NEW tyre pressure checks ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix which means that tyres will now be checked BEFORE they are fitted onto the car.
This is because a lot of teams had found ‘tricks’ to benefit their drivers such as heating up tyres whilst they were being checked (higher pressure) before cooling them on-track to reduce/lower the pressure allowing for better performance and of course – times.
Will this cause a little mix-up between the teams and could this be the reason for Ferrari dominating during the practice sessions on the Austrian Circuit??
We’ll be finding out later today in the Qualifying session for the Austrian Grand Prix. 🙂
More to come soon!
