Esteban Ocon Replaces Rio Haryanto at Manor Racing

Yesterday we heard that Manor Racing have ended Rio Haryanto’s contract halfway through the season and it’s not something which is a surprise for many people as it’s a topic which has been spoken about quite often over the past few weeks.

Rio Haryanto will now be replaced with Esteban Ocon who did an exceptional job at the Silverstone in-season testing earlier this year with Merecdes team principal Toto Wolff then saying – “Esteban did an exceptional job and we are excited to see him take his first steps in an F1 race environment.”

Haryanto started the 2016 season with a lot of hype surrounding him – he was a driver that was heavily backed and supported by sponsors however he struggled to get any points for the team and hasn’t been consistent against his team-mate.

Over the past few months, the driver has struggled to raise more funds and Manor confirmed what everyone was expecting saying that he was – “unable to meet contractual obligations.”

Esteban Ocon will now be replacing Rio Haryanto at the Manor racing team with his debut happening at the Belgian GP later this month after the summer-break.

The new partnership should add fun and boost the team at Manor, with team-mate Wehrlein being consistent during the season and even getting the only point for the team at this years Austrian Grand Prix.

More to come soon!
