Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix Practices – World Champion, Lewis Hamilton sets the fastest lap times in the Canadia Grand Prix Practice sessions – see the full recap here along with some driver reactions after Practice 2.

Today we saw the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix Practices (Practice 1 and 2) with world-champion Lewis Hamilton setting the fastest times, followed by Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and in third place, Mercedes team-mate, Nico Rosberg.

Are we seeing signs of Rosberg not being as competitive as he was during the early part of the season?

In Practice 1, we saw Felipe Massa having issues and finally he had a major issue with his DRS causing him to lose control of his car, spin off track, hitting the barrier and ending his session in Practice 1 however it was good news for the Brazilian driver as he was back for Practice 2 – well done to the Williams F1 team!

A little surprise with McLaren, reaching P7 throughout the practice session with Alonso who then dropped to P11 after staying in the pits.

His team-mate, Jenson Button who suffered with major issues to his car this morning managed to set a time placing him in P7.

Could this be due to their new turbo?? Hopefully we’re seeing signs of progress and a step in the right direction for the McLaren F1 team – they deserve it!

Here are some driver reactions after Practice 2 of the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix Practices.

Ricciardo – “Its nice to get back on the track. I was still letting off some steam but I’m happy to be back here, driving round and jumping over the kerbs. We’ll be pretty close to Ferrari tomorrow too. If we are within half a second tomorrow, that will be decent enough and then you don’t know what happens in the race.”

Vettel – “There’s still some things we can improve on but overall it’s good news for today. I think the Mercedes team will be quick, it’s not a surprise as it’s a track that suits them but the closer we can be to them, the better.”

Verstappen – “It was easy to get back into racing after Monaco and yeah, I was enjoying it today. We have to see what happens tomorrow for sure, we need to improve but overall it’s a positive day.”

Bottas – “It was very slippery today but we will find the balance tomorrow. Overall a good day but tomorrow we will work on things and find more balance tomorrow.”

Massa – “Yeah, we had an issue with DRS and I had a lot of issues in practice 1 but to lose a session like that and to use pieces of the car is not nice. It’s not nice for me or the team. Hopefully we can understand everything and be more competitive tomorrow. I hope everything will be OK tomorrow and we can get the best out of the car.”

Lots more to come soon!!
