Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix Practice – Toro Rosso, See what drivers, Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat had to say after their Practice Session ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend.
Carlos Sainz – Car 55
First Practice Session – Best Lap: 1:16:543 – Position 8
Second Practice Session – Best Lap: 1:15:410 – Position 10
Carlos Sainz – “I’d describe today as a good Friday. Even if our FP1 was cut short this morning because of a red flag, we managed to cover the whole programme in FP2.”
“It was a day with no issues or major problems which is always welcome and this means we had a good baseline to start the weekend with. We just need to continue like this and hold on to this positive feeling.”
“I’m sure we will witness a good fight to get into Q3 but we just need to focus on ourselves and extract the maximum from the car: the top ten is our target!”
Daniil Kvyat – Car 26
First Practice Session – Best Lap: 1:17:310 – Position 15
Second Practice Session – Best Lap: 1:15:559 – Position 14
Daniil Kvyat – “It was a decent and useful first day here in Montreal. We were able to complete plenty of laps and this will certainly help us to continue preparing for Sunday’s race.”
“We still need to sort out a few things regarding the set-up of the car but that’s what Friday evenings are for.”
“We can be happy with our start and I’m looking forward to tomorrow. The gaps with our main competitors are really small and I’m confident we can fight for a good result!“
Phil Charles – Race Engineer
“First post of note is that the weather is really playing some games with us this weekend! The various forecasts seem to be showing all eventualities apart from snow!!”
“We will need to keep the weather factor in mind and when it comes to making set-up decisions and look forward to Sunday.”
“In terms of today, with plateful dry running completed, it was a very interesting day, particularly from the tyre perspective.”
“I think we have some more homework to do, the ultrasoft and supersoft seem to be a bit more on the edge. On the flip side, our drivers seem a bit more comfortable on the long runs on the soft tyre.”
“We will really need to be on top form with the set-up and the decisions we make for the rest of the weekend.”
More to come soon on the blog!! 🙂
