Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix Driver Reaction & Conference – See Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel speaking right after the qualifying session.
Lewis, your fifth pole here in Montreal, a track that you love. Do you feel that you had that under control throughout?
Lewis Hamilton – “To be honest, it doesn’t matter how far you are ahead as long as you’re ahead but in practice, much bigger a gap and today I just didn’t have the pace that I had yesterday. Clearly that was enough. It’s great for the fans to see how close we all are and I’m glad it stayed dry.”
Nico, coming to you. Big lockup into turn 1 on that final run. You were clearly right on the edge today.
Nico Rosberg – “I was hoping you hadn’t seen that one but clearly you did (lockup) – first lap in Q3 was good, not quite enough to beat Lewis but it was still a good lap and the next lap didn’t work out so second place. It’s good for the team.” “Weather forecast is all over the place but from second, everything is doable.”
Sebastian, coming to you – only a tenth off from pole position and Mercedes. Interesting reaction from you though, apologising to the team in Italian. Clearly you thought pole was possible.
Sebastian Vettel – “Yeah, going into qualifying I though it was possible. I think as the driver you always feel that there’s a little bit more and on my last lap I was a bit greedy out in turn 10 and maybe not greedy enough into turn 6 but yeah it wasn’t an awful lot to grab. I was very happy and a little bit was missing but overall I think we have a great car and I’m happy with how the weekend has turned out and enjoy qualifying a lot.”
Back to you Lewis, one of your favourites here in Montreal, you’ve won it four times but clearly the challenge from Ferrari looks a little stronger this weekend.
Lewis Hamilton – “Yeah, Ferrari have obviously picked up their pace and the upgrades they brought to their car. This is the ultimate track to test your speeds so we’re excited to have the race with them and I think it should be exciting for the fans and exciting in the long-runs – we’ll see what happens tomorrow.”
More to come soon ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix!!
