Hamilton arriving at the Circuit Gilles Villenueve earlier today, looking relaxed and calm before heading out into the grandstands to give fans some hats.
Weather conditions continue to be mixed – will there be rain, will there be sun, will there be both?? It was raining in Montreal earlier today as you can see from the photo above….

Formation Lap has now started….
Lights Out!
Lap 1
Vettel gets past both the Mercedes drivers, Rosberg and Hamilton come together with Rosberg dropping positions in 10th.
Lap 2
Hamilton putting the pressure on Vettel.
Lap 3
Hulkenberg gets past Alonso, Vettel still leading the race with Hamilton close behind.
Rosberg is currently in 9th place, making his way past Alonso.
Lap 5
Verstappen in third followed by Ricciardo and Raikkonen in 5th place – Lewis Hamilton has just set the fastest lap of the race.
Vettel still leading the race.
Lap 7
Rosberg is now behind Hulkenberg with the two McLaren drivers behind him….
Lap 10
Vettel is still leading the race, Ricciardo is now catching up to his team-mate Verstappen….
Lap 11
Max Verstappen gets told to ‘Not hold up Ricciardo’
Safety Car deployed as Jenson Button is OUT of the race due to his car / engine having issues with a fire….
Lap 13
Vettel back out in 4th position after coming into the pits during the virtual safety car….
Hamilton now leads the race
Bottas in 5th and Massa in 6th.
Lap 15
Verstappen in 2nd place and still being followed by Ricciardo who has been told to ‘not hold up‘ his team-mate Ricciardo.
Lap 16
Vettel closing the gap to Ricciardo, especially with DRS…
Lap 17
Vettel gets past Ricciardo and is now in 3rd position – quickly closing the gap to Verstappen….
Lap 18
Sebastian Vettel is now in second place and chasing Lewis Hamilton who’s still leading the race.
Lap 20
Max Verstappen now comes into the pits and gets back onto the track in front of Kimi Raikkonen in 8th place!
Lap 22
Ricciardo now comes into the pits along with Rosberg.
Raikkonen making his way round the track and remains ahead of Ricciardo.
Lap 24
Nico Rosberg has just set the fastest lap of the race on the soft tyres, he’s in 8th place.
Hamilton now comes into the pits…
Lap 25
Vettel leads the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix again…
Hamilton drops to second place after coming into the pits for a tyre change…
Lap 31
There’s a battle for 4th place with Raikkonen, Ricciardo and Bottas
Perez pits for a tyre change too…
Rosberg has made his way to 7th position.
Lap 34
Kimi Raikkonen now comes into the pits and goes back out onto the track on the soft compound tyres. He rejoins the race in 8th place.
Lap 37
Felipe Massa is OUT of this race
Lap 40
Hamilton still leads the race, Vettel is setting quick times on his new tyres and catching up the race leader.
Verstappen in third place followed by Bottas in fourth.
Lap 45
Rosberg is slowly making his way up the grid, he’s currently in P5 with Bottas in P4
Lap 46
Vettel sets the fastest lap – he’s catching up to Hamilton who’s currently in the lead…
Lap 49
Sebastian Vettel sets the fastest lap of the race – he’s closing the gap to Hamilton….
Lap 53
Ricciardo closing the gap to Kimi Raikkonen and very eager to get by…
Verstappen has set the fastest lap of the race.
Lap 54
Hamilton still leads the race but the gap between him and Vettel is closing…
Lap 55
Ricciardo drops down to 7th place with Rosberg in 6th and Raikkonen in 5th.
Lap 57
Vettel locks up and loses time – he was closing the gap to race leader, Hamilton… can he close the gap again or has he lost too much time??
Lap 58
Rosberg has now made his way past Raikkonen and is up into 5th position.
Lap 61
Nico Rosberg setting fastest lap times – he’s making his way through the grid quickly…
Lap 62
Vettel locks up in the final chicane and loses even more time – Lewis Hamilton is still leading the race with Bottas in 3rd place.
Verstappen in 4th place closely followed by Rosberg in 5th.
Lap 65
Great racing between Verstappen and Rosberg – battling for 4th place and Rosberg is still trying to get by the Red Bull.
Lap 66
5 laps now remaining till the end of the race.
Rosberg still behind Verstappen – Vettel still behind Hamilton who’s leading the race.
Lap 69
2 laps remaining till the end of the Canadian Grand Prix!
Bottas is still in 3rd place, Rosberg is still trying to make a challenge and get past Verstappen but he’s too far back.
Hamilton is still leading the race with Vettel following him but not closing the gap quick enough….
Lap 70
Rosberg spins and stays in P5
Hamilton WINS the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix!
