Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg – Who’s To Blame For Austria? 

Like I’ve said in other posts, the Austrian Grand Prix was a good race and although it picked up more (excitement-wise) halfway through the race, it was all worth it.

But the question a lot of people seem to be asking is who’s to blame for the collision in Austria – Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg?

My Opinion 

I watched the race live and then watched replay after replay, analysis and after analysis – even looking at the steering wheel of both drivers and I’m sticking to my initial thought.

I’m putting the blame on Nico Rosberg…… Here’s Why.

If you look on the onboard camera from both drivers (more noticeable on Rosberg’s) you’ll be able to see that Hamilton leaves more than enough space for his team-mate on the straight and also the corner. Braking late and allowing Rosberg to take the corner as required with no contact.

From Rosberg’s onboard camera, you’ll be able to see that he brakes later than required (he said that he suffered with a brake issue in the last lap) but what’s more, you’ll see that Rosberg actually turns into the corner late too, pushing his team-mate right off the track. There’s limit and then there’s limit.  Looking at that, I’d say he deliberately went too far not expecting the contact of course.

Many people were arguing the fact that Hamilton didn’t slow down with the yellow flag – again, looking at the onboard camera you can see on the right hand side, the yellow flag being waved just as he makes his way past. At the same time, his team-mate is in front of him with debris flying everywhere so he’s focusing on that and also thinking about the corner ahead however, these are the best drivers in the world so they can’t miss yellow (or blue) flags during a race.

A driver is allowed to overtake another car during a yellow flag if the car is suffering with a problem….  

The stewards have now confirmed that Nico Rosberg is guilty for causing the crash with Hamilton in Austria but I want to know what all of YOU think! 🙂
