Lewis Hamilton: “It’s not the end until it’s mathematically impossible” – Singapore Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton was in high spirits following the Singapore Grand Prix and with good reason – he won at a track which is traditionally suited to Ferrari and Red Bull Racing and he’s now got a 40-point lead in the drivers championship.
The previous two race wins seem to have motivated both Mercedes and Hamilton so much more and they’re now focusing all their positive energy onto the next 6 races and below, you can see what the Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver had to say following the race.
Lewis Hamilton Interview – Singapore Grand Prix
“Honestly, I feel great, Driving-wise on the track – definitely. I feel like knowledge and my approach and the balance that I have in my life in general is really good.”
“I know that a lot of you (the media) have asked some questions this weekend. You actually asked quite nicely about it and not aggressively which you could have done and I’m glad that you have seen my performance this weekend.”
“Toto has been so instrumental in bringing Tommy Hilfiger along which has been a life-changing experience having them in the team and to have the opportunity to do what we are doing with them – that’s amazing. A blessing!”
“I just said to Toto “Don’t for a second ever believe or let it creep into your mind that I don’t want to win this Championship more than anything. This is my priority and you can see that from my time yesterday and my drive today.”
“People have asked me if I need to change my approach but I think we have a great approach as a team – we have outperformed a car that’s slightly better and we just need to keep doing that.”
“There are a lot of points which are still available and as an athlete, as a team and as competitors – you have to stay positive. Hope and belief are the two things which you always have to make sure that you have.”
“I can assure you, we as a team are not getting cocky or overly confident. We’re diligent and working as hard as we can – we just want to keep plugging away. I don’t look at it and think that we lucked in – we honestly don’t waste any time wondering what they (Ferrari) are doing or how they’re feeling or if they’re feeling the pressure or whether they’re happy or unhappy.”
“There’s nothing that we can do about them – all we can do is be the best that we can be that weekend and hopefully that’s good enough – if not, we’ll just keep working.”
“I didn’t think that I would have a 40 point advantage at this point – of course, it’s nice having that but it’s not the end until it’s mathematically impossible. I will keep fighting.”
